Biography

Pianist Zhi Yin was born in 1987 in China where she began playing piano at the age of six. She studied in Russia beginning in 2002 at Russian Gnessin Music School, and then entered into Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2005, where she graduated with highest honors in 2010. Her professors included renowned Russian pianists Naum Shtarkman and Arkady Sevidov. In 2011, Zhi went on to study in the United States. She is currently a graduate student at Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, studying with Boris Slutsky. Zhi has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Russia, China, Spain, Italy and Germany. She has appeared at numerous venues, including Small Hall and Rachmaninoff Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Chamber Hall of Moscow Philharmonic, Changzhou Grand Theatre and Concert Hall of Nanjing Arts Institute in China, Russian Culture Center in Washington D.C. and Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall of Peabody Conservatory. Zhi was awarded Second Prize at the Harrison Winter Concerto Competition in Baltimore,Third Prize at the International Competition “XXI CENTURY ART” in Ukraine, finalist diploma and special prize at the First Balakirev International Piano Competition in Russia and finalist diploma at the Second Campillos International Piano Competition in Spain.
