Biography

Invited by the Annual Velia International Music Festival, pianist Yejin Lee performed her New York Solo Debut Recital at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in May 2015. Before her Debut, Yejin’s music credits include concerto performance with the Korean Symphony Orchestra at the Seoul Arts Center, solo performances at rising star series at Kumho, Hoan, and Boan Art Halls, and performances at the Upcoming Starts in the Classics’ invitation in Cleveland. Yejin competed and claimed awards at number of national and international competitions, such as, Kingsville International Piano Competition, Wideman International Piano Competition, Oberlin International Piano Competition, MTNA Piano Competition, and Korean Chopin Piano Competition. She also performed at various music festivals and master classes, including Piano Texas International Academy & Festival and Banff Music Festival, where she shared musical inspiration with great pedagogues and pianists in this century like Richard Goode, Dmitry Bashkirov, Stephen Hough, John O’Conor, John Perry and Karl-Heinz Kammering. Yejin graduated with Honors in Piano Performance under Haewon Song from Oberlin Conservatory. Oberlin Conservatory’s Piano Honors program has invited only a few pianists since its inception, and Yejin was the second recipient only to two others in the program’s history. While enrolled in the Honors program, Yejin recorded Schubert’s entire Impromptus and three Schubert-Lizst song transcriptions, all at the Oberlin Conservatory’s sponsorship. Also as an avid collaborative musician, Yejin shows her passion for ensemble music. Not only she pursued additional Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Accompanying under Philip Highfill while at Oberlin Conservatory, Yejin also actively collaborate with musicians from vocalists to instrumentalists in recitals and concerts throughout the US and Korea. In addition, during her undergraduate study, her piano trio performed a number of concerts and taught at schools in Arezzo, Italy. Yejin received her Master of Music at the Peabody Institute where she is continuing her studies with Boris Slutsky in the Doctor of Musical Arts program.
