Biography

“His uncanny mastery of rubato, that most intuitive and romantic of expressive devices” writes the The Straits Times of pianist Shiehhsien Yeh. Yeh recently won the First Prize and Best Sonata award at the KeriKeri International Piano Competition in New Zealand. He also won First Prize at the Ibiza International Piano Competition. Yeh is currently in his second year of an Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music under Pianist HaeSun Paik.

He is the prize winner of many international and national competitions such as 1st prize of Singapore National Competition (Artist Category) in 2011, 1st prize of New Artinc young artists Piano Competition, 2nd Prize of Kawai Piano Competition in Taiwan. He also was selected twice to take part in the 67th and 69th Geneva International Piano Competition. His achievements also include chamber music such as Third Prize of Taiwan National Chamber Competition.

Recently, he performed Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra under Jahja Ling.

He has performed in master classes of eminent world-class pianists and teachers such as Dang Thai Song, Jerome Lowenthal, Phillipe Entremont, Christopher Elton, Ann Schein, YongHi Moon, Solomon Mikowsky, Nikolay Lugansky, Akiko Abi, Tamas Ungar, N.Delle-Vigne, Jeremy Denk, and Aquiles Delle Vigne.

ShihHsien was born in Yunlin Taiwan, where he first started the piano at the age of six. He came from a musical family where his mother was his first piano teacher. He graduated from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore with full scholarship under Albert Tiu in 2014.
