Biography
Bostonian pianist Seho Young is a rapidly emerging international artist, whose playing has been described as “very intelligent and mature, […] thoughtful and polished” by the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans. Seho is an acclaimed performer, having won first prize and the chamber music award at the 2022 Charles Wadsworth Competition and third prize at the 28th New Orleans International Piano Competition. He has appeared with the Louisiana Philharmonic, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Brockton Symphony Orchestra, and the Princeton University Orchestra. Recently he was invited to present a recital of all American composers for The Bohemians New York Musicians’ Club at the Kosciuszko Foundation, and was featured in Tulane University’s Concert Piano Series. Hosted by the International Holland Music Sessions, he performed across Europe at iconic venues including the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Philharmonic Hall in Bratislava. He has studied with James Giles, Boris Berman, Francine Kay, Yoheved Kaplinsky, and Wha Kyung Byun, and has performed in masterclasses for Stanislav Ioudenitch, Jeffrey Kahane, William Naboré, and Maria Joao Pires. In addition to piano, he is also a passionate chamber musician and harpsichordist Seho holds degrees from Princeton University and Yale University, and is currently pursuing his doctorate at Northwestern’s Bienen School of Music.
Seho is also a passionate composer and arranger, having written works for piano, orchestras, acapella groups, film, and musical theater. He is a competitive ultimate frisbee player, chess and Brazilian jiu-jitsu enthusiast, and life-long supporter of the New England Patriots.
