Biography
Philadelphia-based pianist Angeline Ma studies with Yoheved Kaplinsky and Robert McDonald at The Juilliard School. Recent accolades include 3rd Prize of the 2025 Juilliard Munz Competition, Winner of the 2025 Northwestern University Concerto Competition, 4th Prize at the 2025 National Chopin Competition, 3rd Prize and Best Duo Sonata Award at 2024 PianoArts Competition, Winner of the 2024 PianoTexas Festival Concerto Competition, 1st Prize Young Artist at the 2024 Music Teachers National Association, and 2024 Gilmore Keyboard Festival Fellowship,. She has performed Chopin’s 1st Concerto with the Chopin Competition Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Ramón Tabar, Mozart’s 20th with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Yaniv Dinur, Prokofiev’s 2nd with Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Miguel Harth-Bedoya, and Prokofiev’s 2nd with Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Luis Aguilar. Angeline has performed at the Polish Embassy in Washington, D.C. and the Kosciuszko Foundation in New York City. She has been featured on NPR’s “From the Top”, WUSF 89.7, WWFM’s “Kids on Keys”, and WRTI 90.1. Angeline has attended programs including Kneisel Hall, PianoFest in the Hamptons, Frost Chopin Academy, and PianoTexas International Academy. She has worked with Maria João Pires, Paul Lewis, Piotr Anderszewski, Kevin Kenner, Jerome Lowenthal, Alexander Korsantia, and Dang Thai Son. Angeline is from Berwyn, Pennsylvania and previously studied with Susan Starr. She previously attended Northwestern University, where she studied with James Giles. In her free time, Angeline enjoys literature, films, and birdwatching. Angeline credits Grigory Sokolov, Radu Lupu, Sviatoslav Richter, and Kate Liu, among her greatest musical idols, for her inspiration.
